GEORGE!

When Alaina really likes something or gets excited she screams, growls, waves her arms and shakes her fists. It really is pretty funny. Her Curious George doll can really get her going. Below is a video of her with George & some recent pictures below.

6 Months!

Alaina is now 6 months old. The time has gone so fast. She had her 6 month check-up yesterday and is doing well. She is nearly 14lbs (15%ile) and almost 26 inches (50%ile).
Alaina's big accomplishments include:
Eating...she has had rice cereal, carrots, peas, squash, and sweet potatoes! She is a great eater.
Sitting up on her own...She started doing this a couple of weeks ago and is an official pro.
Babbling....mama, ba, ga and other words along this line!
NOT rolling over...she can roll over, but would rather not. She is an expert at preventing a roll-over with the arch of her back and one leg and head flung backwards.
Spitting, drooling and anything messy and wet out of her mouth...oh and this is all pretty darn funny.
Peek-a-boo...she gets it! And thinks it is so funny.
Baby in the mirror...That baby in the mirror is SOOOO fun to play with!

We are truly enjoying this little girl! We wish you all a blessed Easter.

It's been a While...

It has been a while since my last post. Time really does just get away from me now with our little Alaina keeping us occupied & entertained. She is doing so well. We really couldn't ask for more. She is healthy and happy. She still sleeps about 12 hours at night and then takes about 3 naps during the day...she is really a dream! She has started to do all those fun things that seem to be basic task for the rest of us, but are new and exciting for her....sitting up (almost on her own), grabbing toys and playing with them, giggling, babbling, rolling over and even eating some rice cereal.

Aaron & I are enjoying being parents and seem to be adjusting quite well to our new roles. Aaron is enjoying his classes (and doing very well, I might add...did we expect anything less!?). I have been able to work from home in the afternoons. This has provided me with a great balance and I am only gone for one feeding a day usually. Grandma Rosie and Alaina have been getting along great on Aaron's school days. I think they enjoy their time together. Alaina is very fortunate to have wonderful grandparents on both sides. We try get in a visit every week.

We go in for her 6 month check-up in a couple of weeks..WOW!

Wiggles

So, it turns out that Alaina wiggles A LOT during the night. She wiggles herself around her crib. It is so funny to go in and check on her and see where she has moved. I love to watch her sleep and wouldn't be surprised if she thinks I am in her room all night as she often opens her eyes and smiles at me while I am watching her. She continues to sleep well....to bed around 7 / 7:30 and up around 6:30. Here are a few pics of her sleeping positions. We always lay her down with her head on the right.

A Healthy Baby

We went to the doctor yesterday for Alaina's 4 month check-up. She is going great and is now over 12 lbs. She is in the 25%ile for weight and 60th for height. She had her immunizations and did very well. I think the fact that they have to hold her down is the worst part for her.

She is starting to get better about spending time on her tummy and is lifting her head pretty well. She rolled over for the first time this past Saturday. She did it about 3 or 4 times that afternoon, but hasn't done it again since.

Aaron and I are doing well and starting to get into the groove of our new routines since all of the changes last month. We are anxiously awaiting the addition of a new cousin sometime this month...come-on Katie Lou!

More pictures to come...take care.

Changes

We had a wonderful Christmas and New Year's and hope all of you did as well. We were able to spend a lot of time with Aaron's family and really enjoyed seeing them all and having Alaina spend some time with her aunts, uncles and cousins. We even were able to get a nice family picture taken...all 13 of us...and counting (another cousin due in about a month)!

We did miss my family though. Steve is in a show in Chicago and only had a couple of days off, so wasn't able to make it in. Mary and Justin were, of course, very busy with their new little one. And Mom and Dad spent 3 weeks visiting Mary, Justin and Evie in Hawaii. We did miss them, but did not feel bad for them! I think we had some of the coldest days in years while they were gone.

These past few weeks have been full of changes...and this next week will continue with those changes. Aaron had his last day of work 12/26. It is quite different for him not to head to the Credit Union after nearly 6 years of employment there. We enjoyed a week off together with Alaina before I headed back to work this past week. While it was a little stressful anticipating my first days back, things went very smoothly. I have been able to leave around 2 or 3 so I can be home to feed Alaina after she wakes up from her afternoon nap and then finish my day of work from my home office. It went VERY well and hope it continues to be that way. Aaron enjoyed his week with Alaina and thinks he will really enjoy this new job!

This week starts another big change. Aaron begins school with classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays. My Mom will be coming over to spend the days with Alaina. I think she is looking forward to it and I hope this next week goes just as smoothly as last week. With 4 people trying to get into a new routine, it may be a bit challenging, but I think we are up for it!

Here are some pictures from Christmas. You will see Alaina wearing a WONDERFUL gift from Grandma Nancy & Grandpa Mark (Helping Aaron's plan for early hockey training :)). Also, we were very fortunate to have Santa visit this Christmas morning.... Aaron missed the whole thing ;)

Happy New Year!
